2 Day Jungle Treks in the Nam Ha NPA

Tai Lue Mountain View Trail

Moderate Mountain Slopes & Views

DAY 1

Starting from the Tai Lue village Ban Sin Oudom, you will cross the Nam Tha River and trek through beautiful secondary forest. It is a slow climb to the top of the ridge where we have our stunning Mountain View Camp, 1100 meters above sea level. Here you will spend the night sitting at the campfire watching the star-sprinkled sky and listening to the sound of the jungle. 

DAY 2

After a hearty Lao breakfast, you will descend down the mountain into beautiful primary forest. The trees and bamboo here are huge! You will trek along a small stream leading you back to the Nam Tha River for your pick up.

Difficulty

1 is easy, 5 is nearly impossible

Length of Trek

Plan to take two full days off. You will trek for 5 to 7 hours per day.

Ban Nalan Trail

Visiting Ethnic Minority Groups

DAY 1

The first half hour is quite steep, but after you ascend into the jungle made up of a primary forest, the terrain becomes a lot easier to navigate. After 4-5 hours, you will arrive in the Khmu village Ban Nalan. In the evening you can relax or help prepare your dinner. You can spend the night in either a villager’s home or in a specially built house for visitors.

DAY 2

After a hearty Lao breakfast, you can also choose to visit a second Khmu and Lanten village by walking along a dirt road next to the Nam Ha River for a couple hours. Or you re-enter the thick jungle with some steep ups and downs and beautiful secondary forest.

Khmu Fisherman Trail

Trekking & Visiting Minority Groups

DAY 1

After crossing the Nam Tha river by boat, you will start this challenging trek up through a mix of beautiful primary, secondary and bamboo forest with some of the oldest trees in the NPA. Continue your trek until you arrive at our remote Fisherman Camp, in the middle of the jungle, for your refreshing swim in the Nam Ha River. Now it is time for you to relax or help your guide pick jungle food, and enjoy dinner at the campfire watching fireflies before falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle.

DAY 2

After a hearty breakfast of local and jungle food, continue your trek through the NPA. Bird sightings are common here, as are many multi-coloured insects. Trek along a mountain ridge trail with amazing views before you reach the Nam Tha River again.

Fisherman Wild Boar Trail

Far Away From All Civilization

DAY 1

Take a deep breath and start your challenging and long trek. The terrain starts easy, but will get more difficult once you get deeper into the jungle. After a village visit and a stunning mountain view, you will head on to our remote Fisherman Camp, where you can relax around a campfire.

DAY 2

Refresh yourself in the Nam Ha River and enjoy a hearty breakfast to get ready for the next day of trekking. You will trek 4-5 hours through secondary and primary forest. Ask your guide to show you where the galangal is.

Our treks are adventurous and requires that trekkers be in good health. Be the end of your trek you will rightly feel tired.
