After receiving instructions from your guide, you will hit the water! This trip offers you nice jungle views on your right and ethnic minority villages on your left. It is adventurous in wet season and chilled out kayaking in dry season. You will kayak down the Nam Tha River and stop at several ethnic minority villages to learn about their life. You will spend the night in a village homestay.
Starting from the Tai Lue village Ban Sin Oudom, you will cross the Nam Tha River and trek through beautiful secondary forest. It is a slow climb to the top of the ridge where we have our stunning Mountain View Camp. Here you will spend the night sitting at the campfire watching the star-sprinkled sky and listening to the sound of the jungle.
After a hearty Lao breakfast, you will descend the mountain into beautiful primary forest. The trees here are huge! You will trek along a small stream leading you back to the Nam Tha River for your pick up.
After crossing the Nam Tha river by boat, you will start this challenging trek up through a mix of beautiful primary, secondary and bamboo forest with some of the oldest trees in the NPA. Continue your trek until you arrive at our remote Fisherman Camp, in the middle of the jungle, for your refreshing swim in the Nam Ha River. Now it is time for you to relax, enjoy dinner at the campfire and watch fireflies before falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle.
After breakfast, your climb will be difficult but you will be rewarded with a stunning mountain view. Hike on down the mountain to the Lanten village of Ban Nam Koy where you will have lunch. Continue along the dirt road to Ban Nalan Tai. Here you will learn about Khmu culture and daily life. In the evening you can relax or help prepare your dinner. You can spend the night in either a villager’s home or in a specially built house for visitors.
After a hearty breakfast, it is time for you to hit the water. The first section of river you will kayak down is the Nam Ha River, where you will enjoy the jungle scenery surrounding you. For the second part, you will kayak further down the Nam Tha River visiting ethnic minority villages along the way.
After meeting your guide and bicycle, you will visit the museum, the wet market, and a village known for its traditional weaving. In the afternoon, you will cycle along a paved road past fields and jungle to the Khmu village Ban Tasae where you will spend the night.
Your guide will give you kayaking or rafting instructions on the riverbank before you hit the water. Kayak down the Nam Ha River, right through the heart of the Nam Ha National Protected Area. Along your way, you will pass 3 jungle villages and learn about their local life. In the afternoon, you will continue down the river to our remote Fisherman Camp. Have a swim, relax or help your guide prepare dinner. If you are not too tired, you can ask your guide to take you on a night walk for some animal spotting.
After a hearty breakfast of local and jungle food, begin your trek through the NPA. Bird sightings are common here, as are many multi-coloured insects. Trek along a mountain ridge trail with amazing views before you reach the Nam Tha River again.
